In 2020, the then parish priest of St. Peter’s Catholic Church (Kasiya), Fr Malambo Mbulo CSSp explored the possibility of constructing a mini hospital in Kasiya. After thorough consultations and request to the Women’s Bible Study Group of St. Mary’s Parish, Blacksburg, USA (who funded the project), the project was granted. On 6th May 2021, KMH was established in the presence of the Superior of the Spiritans in Zambia, Very Rev. Fr Damian Simungala, CSSp. The new facility was blessed on 23rd June 2022 by Rt. Rev. Raphael Mweempwa (Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Monze), and officially opened by Hon. Cornelius Mweetwa MP, Southern Province Minister then. St. Mary’s parish was represented by Mrs Glenda Canfied, Mrs Felistus Mukuni, and Fr. John Asare (the Parish Priest). Dr Whiteson Mbele became the first Medical Officer-In-Charge while Fr Malambo Mbulo CSSp the first Hospital Administrator.

KMH was established by Spiritans (Congregation of the Holy Spirit) with the help of the Women’s Bible Study Group of USA. The facility belongs to the diocese of Monze. The Spiritans are the managing agency, with a constituted Hospital Advisory Board.
